HINATA

Hinata is a 3 year old female Jindo/Lab mix who came to the NHS with her brother Ching through an investigation in which the owner was not properly caring for them. She's had a litter of puppies, but will never have to worry about that again now that she's with us! She came to the shelter quite shy but she has warmed up very well to the staff. Once she feels comfortable with you, she turns into a big suck - especially if you have some treats!! Hinata hasn't been introduced to other dogs or cats yet at the shelter, so we're not sure how she'd react to other animals in her home.

Hina has been at the NHS since July 21st, 2010.

CHING

Ching is a 3 year old male Jindo/Lab mix who came to the NHS with his sister Hina through an investigation in which their owner wasn't properly caring for them. Ching is, like his sister, reserved when it comes to new people, but he does warm up and enjoy affection. He reacted well to being brushed by one of the staff (holy cow did he ever need it!) and even gave kisses in the process! Ching hasn't been introduced to other dogs or cats yet at the shelter, so it's unsure how he'll react to other pets in his new home, but he does whine at Hina through the fence - looks like his misses his sister!!

Ching has been at the NHS since July 21st, 2010.

SPENCER

Spencer is a 6 year old neutered male Beagle. He was surrendered to the NHS by his owner when Spencer just wasn't working out with the toddler in the home. He is good with some dogs as long as he is the alpha dog in the home or group, however he does try to be the dominant dog when he meets dogs on walks. He enjoyed 3 walks a day in his previous home and because he is a typical Beagle, he needs to be kept on a leash for walks or he will take off and follow his nose!

Despite his small size, he can easily scale 5 ft fences, but a 6 ft fence kept him contained in his previous home. Spencer is also a smart dog knowing sit, lie down, shake a paw and come.

Spencer's preferred new home would be a home as the only pet in the home and with someone who could work through some of his issues. As always, a 50% off obedience course with Lakeside Obedience Training School is available to any dog adopted from the NHS.

POO - ADOPTION PENDING

Yes that's right, his name is Poo and has been for his entire 9 years of life. Poo is a male 9 year old Cocker Spaniel/Poodle cross. He was surrendered by his owner when the owner had to move and couldn't take Poo with her. Poo is a friendly dog who is good with kids and most other dogs. We say "most other dogs" because of Poo's age; he would probably be best in a home without a young puppy or younger dog. When introduced to cats, he started to bark but then stopped and seemed to ignore them for the most part. He has lived with both dogs and cats in his previous home.

Poo also sits down when a person is either attaching a leash onto his collar or taking it off. He would be a very good dog for an older person (as his previous owner was an older person).

CINDER - ADOPTION PENDING

Cinder (short for Cinderella) is a female, 5 year old Swedish Vallhund cross. She is a smaller dog who would probably only weigh about 45 lbs. Her owner abandoned her with people who were not able to take care of her.

She is a very sedate and quiet dog. Not much seems to startle this dog. She knows sit, lie down and come and also loves to get a good head scratching. She does have some hot spots on her back end which may have been caused by flea bites in her previous home. She has now been treated for fleas and has had a bath (her fur is unbelievably soft!). It will just be a wait and see game to see if the flea medication is helping.
