How you can help us
There are many ways for you to help the Northumberland Humane Society. We accept cash donations as well as point-based donations. You can use our HBC REWARDS CARD number when purchasing at Zellers, The Bay and other participating stores. Our HBC card number is 593 445 129. For online HBC rewards our Community ID number is 9065961. As well, stamps are sold at the Northumberland Humane Society Thrift Shop in Cobourg.

Become a Board Member
Our AGM will be held on Sunday March 25 at 1 pm (Location TBA) and we are currently seeking new people who feel that they can enhance the well being of the Northumberland Humane Society. Please call us at 905-885-4131 or email at north1@eagle.ca if you would like more info about becoming a board member. It has an average monthly committment of 10 hours/month.
Donate
The following are items that we urgently need pretty much all the time:
- Medium to large sized towels and face cloths for cats, blankets for dogs
- Kitten food (dry and canned, grain-free)
- Adult cat food (grain-free dry and canned)
- Dog food (canned)
- Fur clippers (for those matted pets who come in that way)
- Dish , laundry, and hand soap
- Bleach
- Heavy Duty Garbage Bags (must be 35 in x 50 in and must be extra strong)
- Durable Dog Toys (ie kongs)
- Rawhides and other chews for dogs
- Viralys Gel and Nutri-Cal (ask your vet and notify them that it is for the NHS)
- Fresh Veggies for bunnies (Lettuce-Type Greens and Carrots are favourites!)
We can also often use spray bottles, thick leather gloves (to help pick up irate cats/wildlife), timothy hay for rabbits, rabbit food, shavings, kitten and puppy formula (at most vet clinics), cat litter (non-clumping kind), full spectrum fluorescent lights 47" long, tea-tree oil, Ear cleansing solutions, Surolan, Metacam, Dog/Cat nail clippers, printer paper
Volunteer
We need volunteers for cleaning cat and small animal cages and dog runs, dog walking, bathing, fundraising, animal cruelty investigations, fostering, transportation of animals and more!
